Family

Grandmother was the daughter of Thomas Wesley Galbreath and Louisa Peirelee Ramsey. Her father Thomas had a twin brother James Harvey, Thanks to Alice Galbreath Swelling and Betty Adkisson we have acquired several photos of her Family!

Thomas W. and his brothers James Harvey, and Joel all fought for the Confederate cause in the War between the States. Joel died on the way home! Grandmother told me that they had to kill their horses for food at the Battle of Chattanooga to keep from starving!

Above picture on left is John Rufus Galbreath, son of James H. Galbreath. The photo on right is his son Fred Matthew, father of Alice G. Swelling. John R. and several other family members are also buried at Clayton Cemetery where Grandmother is buried.

Mary Katherine Galbreath, daughter of James Harvey Galbreath, was the grandmother of Betty Adkission, whose contributions to our research, has been invaluable!

Grave marker is R. H. Ramsey Father of Louisa P. Ramsey. He was Thomas Wesley's father-in-law! Cemetery is in St. Clair, County, Alabama. Photo provided by cousin David Gilbreath, descendant of Mynett Galbreath.
