In Memoriam

Mattie Griffin Love Ritch, born May 25, 1903 in Clay County, Alabama. She passed away on June 30, 2003 at her home, located at 1750 Allison Mill Road, Talladega, Alabama.

I’m sure we all have our favorite memories of Aunt Mattie, mine is of the time’s I went with my parents to visit her and Uncle Wilbern as a teen. She and my  Mom, Lois Love Robershaw, would sit on the front porch swing and swap stories for hours. It is the only time I can recall, my Mom having belly laughs with anyone!! Unfortunately we lost several years of contact with her when our Family moved to California in the 50’s. I never visited her again until I came to a Robershaw Reunion in 1999 with my brother’s & sister’s. What a joy she was to visit even at age ninety six!! I could see why she and my Mom were such big buddy's, Aunt Mattie and my Mom had a lot of the same mannerism’s. I was told Mom carried note’s from Uncle Wilbern to Aunt Mattie when they were courting! Aunt Mattie was and Inspiration for all us that are of senior age group and we will miss her!! Ecc. 3:1-2  To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. A time to be born, a time to die, a time to plant and a time to harvest!!
