My first remembrance of Huel was when I was about 5 years old, he had  come to stay with us in Gadsden, Al. for the summer. He had gotten a job at Sim’s  Grocery store. When it came  time for him to go home, I remember Mom was so sad to see him go. Her nickname for him was “ Sunshine” so you know she really loved having him visit. This picture was taken in 1999 when we visited Huel and his Family! He was as always a Gracious Host!!

Huel Love Memoriam Page Three

I thought it would be good to mention some things that Huel and I had in common. We would often talk about this when we got together. We felt good about it, but I don't think that we ever told anyone else. So I wanted to pass it on to you for what it is worth.

Huel was the first on either side of our families that finished High School, then University, and went on into a Professional career. We both spent time in the Navy. He was older than me, but I was the first to do the same on the side of the Robershaw family. I know today that isn't much, but when we came through that was really a high accomplishment. Too, today our kids have found that same passage. They too, have accomplished greatness in their own way. And that brings me to this point. Huel was always quick to point out that Betty, was the anchor not only in his life, but to the family as well. I use to say, "and she makes it look so easy".

Yes, I miss Huel and Aunt Mattie. But Betty, you and the rest of your family are part of me. I'll be back to see all of you.  Love, Cousin Reggie Robershaw

I cracked my leg doing a performance piece but convinced the Dr. to put me in a bent brace so I could still play wheel chair tennis. I am using that more and more to help with my grief over the loss of Dad. Yesterday was really a bad day, as it was my first Birthday after Dad's death. He never sent cards, but there was this chicken scratched note with a small check He always sent. He said “he was sorry it was not more”, but it was such a help with my bills. I would usually buy some little something (last year it was a small gazing ball for my garden) and use the rest on bills. He would want me to call the day I got it and if I forgot to do so, almost to the minute the mail ran he would call. Its funny how things like that flood your memories.
